Tyler Travis, Kole Wilkinson and Scott Kerley were all given awards during Barren Inc.’s Sybil Leamon Volunteer Awards conference on Jan. 23.
The Sybil Leamon Volunteer of the Year award went to Kerley. He served as chairman of the Board of Directors in 2023.
“Scott Kerley…has been a cornerstone of Barren Inc.’s transformation from a transactional organization to a more dynamic, transformative one,” a press release states. “In 2023, when Barren Inc. was named a finalist for Chamber of the Year, Scott traveled to Salt Lake City to support the team during the convention.”
The award is named for Sybil Leamon, who was a realtor and volunteer in the Barren County community, an ambassador for the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce, served as president of the Barren County Realtors Association and was a member of the Glasgow Rotary Club. The award is given to “an individual whose unwavering commitment to service embodies the spirit of community.”
Travis was awarded the Ambassador of the Year award, an accolade that “honors an individual who consistently exceeds expectations in their role as a Chamber Ambassador.” In his case, Travis “actively supports the Chamber by recruiting new members and strengthening connections with existing ones.”
For the Board Member of the Year award, the chamber honored Kole Wilkinson who, according to the release, has been instrumental in launching the Young Professionals of Barren County program.
“Kole has amplified the Chamber’s vision and mission through social media and played a crucial role in advancing the Chamber’s 5-Year Strategic Plan, focusing on community competitiveness projects,” the release states.
