Barren County was approved for $81,250 by the Kentucky Agricultural Finance Corporation.
The money will go toward the Beginning Farmer Loan Program, according to the corporation’s press release. The program is designed to assist individuals with some farming experience who desire to develop, expand, or buy into a farming operation.
Beginning farmers may qualify for financing to purchase livestock, equipment, or agriculture facilities; to secure permanent working capital; for the purchase of farm real estate; or to invest in a partnership or limited liability company.
This is part of the $1.24 million that was approved by the corporation. Other recipients include a $27,000 and a $29,000 agricultural infrastructure loans, both for Meade County, a $152,000 loan in Garrard County, a $187,500 loan in Grayson County, a $71,250 loam for Hart County, $250,000 were approved for Warren County and Washington County was approved for a $188,010 loan. A Diversification through Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness loan totaling up to $250,000 was also approved for a recipient in Nelson County.
