Barren County and Caverna Independent schools spend more money per student than the state average, whereas Glasgow Independent Schools spends less.
Recently the Kentucky Department of Education released school districts’ financial data for the 2023-24 academic year in an update to the previously released School Report Cards. Among other things, the financial data shows the amount each district spent per student.
School-level spending per student data is calculated by district staff, according to the department.
The average amount spent per student in Kentucky is $19,020 and, from all sources, Barren County Schools spent $20,038, Caverna Independent Schools spent $20,970 and Glasgow Independent Schools spent $18,572, according to the financial transparency section of the report cards.
Barren County Schools had 4,680 students during the 2023-24 school year, Glasgow had 2,291 and Caverna had 598, according to the report cards.
