Filming will impact those traveling through downtown Glasgow, according to the city.
A movie scene will be filmed in the alley behind the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building and George Js between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. which will be closed to the public during this time, the Glasgow Police Department stated. Filming in the alley will also included simulated gunfire, therefore the City of Glasgow warned people not to be alarmed by loud noises or effects. Southern Kentucky Film Commission President MacLean Lessenberry said it will “sound like loud fireworks.”
From 4:30 to 7 p.m. South Broadway Street, from East Main to East Washington streets, will be closed “to accommodate production needs,” the same traffic impact notice stated. There will also be “temporary traffic interruptions” at the intersection of Broadway and Washington streets — which is next to the 911 center — during the same window of time.
“We thank the public for their patience and cooperation as we support the creative economy and welcome film production to our city,” the city stated. “Please plan ahead and use alternate routes if traveling downtown during these times.”
Lessenberry, who is also the executive director of Glasgow-Barren County tourism, said the specifics of the film could not be disclosed.
“We currently have a project filming with us,” Lessenberry said. “We’re really excited about it though we can’t give many more details at this time.”
Lessenberry said films are a financial boon to the area.
“These are really big influxes to our local economy,” Lessenberry said. “Not only that, but they’re really fun. We get to host people from all over the U.S. and the globe here in our small town.”
She said on social media that there will be extra opportunities for community members and they will be made available on the Facebook page.
