The Louisville Orchestra is returning to Glasgow today and community members will have two opportunities to watch the musicians perform. To prepare for this evening’s performance, parts of the downtown square will be closed beginning at noon.
Earlier in the day, an ensemble with the orchestra will help the pages of “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” come alive at a free event at 2 p.m. at the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library. The Once Upon an Orchestra series will feature interactive storytelling and the magic of music.

At 7:30 p.m., the Louisville Orchestra will perform a free concert on the Glasgow square as part of its statewide In Harmony Tour. The program will combine iconic classics, exciting new works and unexpected surprises.
According to the Glasgow Police Department, the east side of the square — the city hall side — will close at noon with the north side to follow at 3 p.m. and the south side — Yancey’s side — to close at 5 p.m.
Last year, the orchestra estimated that 1,750 people came to their performance.
Teddy Abrams, music director and conductor of the Louisville Orchestra, spoke with WCLU’s Todd Steenbergen. Here is a full audio recording of their conversation:
