Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Burkesville Road on Monday morning.
A 2015 Ford Transit van driven by Maurice Dykema, of Cartersville, Georgia, crashed in the 5700 block of Burkesville Road near the intersection with Country Acres Road just before noon Monday, according to a press release from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office. The van was eastbound on Burkesville Road when the driver failed to “negotiate a curve.” The van traveled off the left should of the roadway and struck a rock wall before overturning in the roadway.
Dykema and Sonya Huskins, a passenger in the van, were transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, the release stated.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Glasgow Fire Department, East Barren Fire Department and Barren County Emergency Management personnel.
