In recognition of First Responders’ Day, members at The Peoples Bank provided meals, sweets and various door prizes to those individuals who help keep the community safe.
“This is a way to say ‘thank you’ to our first responders,” President and CEO Terry Bunnell said. “It’s a fun time, first responders can come and meet our staff but also the community. We have a lot of individuals come to the food trucks, get something to eat and talk to the first responders. It helps build that community and that’s what we want to see.”
“We wanted to treat them today. This is their day,” he added.
Food trucks were on site at all three of The Peoples Banks locations — Glasgow, Cave City and Marion in Crittenden County — that offered first responders free meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through vouchers handed out by bank staff. Afterwards, they were offered sweet treats, like cupcakes, cookies and milk from Legacy Dairy.
First responders were also encouraged to submit their name for door prizes, which Bunnell said included such things as gift cards.
All three locations of The Peoples Bank also gave donations to local charities on behalf of the first responders; the Glasgow branch gave $150 to BRAWA at the suggestion of Police Chief Guy Howie.
“All together, it’s $450 that will be given away to support charities in our communities,” Bunnell said.
Bunnell said this was the first time the bank staff held an event honoring first responders, but said the reception has been great.
