Hope Harbor and the Barren River Area Safe Space were two of 29 agencies awarded federal grant funding in an effort to “help prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking in the commonwealth,” a governor’s office press release stated.
During his Nov. 20 Team Kentucky Update, Governor Andy and and First Lady Britainy Beshear awarded more than $2.1 million in federal grant funding through the Violence Against Women Act. Hope Harbor and BRASS — both of which have locations in Glasgow; Hope Harbor’s office is on North Race Street and BRASS’s location is 101 N. Public Square — were awarded $71,000 and $49,144 respectively.
“Too many Kentuckians have faced the trauma of being a victim of domestic violence in Kentucky, which is why it’s been my mission since my time as attorney general to make sure fewer families know that pain,” Beshear said. “This grant funding is vital to providing services and seeking justice, and I am proud to work with the organizations who are providing support directly to victims and their families.”
