Glasgow’s downtown square will be transformed into a vast marketplace this Saturday as over 100 vendors set up for the annual “Sip, Shop & Stroll” event.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will also be live music, food trucks, kids’ activities and more.
Veronica Wells, an organizer for the event and owner of Vintage on the Square, said the streets around the square will be barricaded to vehicle traffic so that people can safely walk around the area.
“Another big event. Lots of activities, food, downtown businesses open — it’s just a great time,” she said in a recent interview with WCLU Radio. “It brings us all together. We’ve got the businesses and local vendors, a lot of just neat things and activities.
“There’s really something for everyone of all ages.”
Wells said the live music will be located across from Highland Social, with bull riding and a performance from Broadway the Clown in front of the courthouse.
She added that they like to add new events and activities every year, and this year will include a hula-hoop contest for all ages.
“We’ll have a pile of hula-hoops out there,” she said. “We’ve got all sizes.
“It’s going to be for everyone.”
During the Tuesday, June 2, Barren County Fiscal Court meeting, county judge-executive Jamie Bewley Byrd gave an update on sidewalk work around the Barren County Courthouse.
She said Grey Rock Construction, which is doing the work, told her the sidewalks will be finished before Sip, Shop and Stroll. “They will have it cleaned up for this weekend.”
