DTS, Inc. marked 25 years of service to the Glasgow-Barren County community during a Coffee and Commerce breakfast hosted by Barren Inc.
The Chamber of Commerce event took place Friday, June 12, at Willow Oaks Golf Club in Glasgow, with the Wells family, owners of DTS, serving as host, sponsor, and featured speakers.
Founders David and Darlene Wells started DTS in 2001 after their experience raising a son with Down syndrome.
They recognized a lack of transportation for families who needed to travel for medical care, and that realization led to the launch of DTS with just two vans focused on helping residents reach needed appointments.
During the presentation, Darlene Wells shared the family’s story and the company’s beginnings, including her earlier work at the Colonial House Restaurant on 31-E South, which her parents owned for many years and where she first met David. The couple eventually moved from operating the restaurant into transportation.
In 2013, their son, Jeff Wells, joined the business after working as a project manager at a local construction management company, saying he felt called by God to serve the community and to continue the company’s servant-hearted mission.
Speaking at the Coffee and Commerce event, Jeff Wells emphasized that DTS is not simply a transportation provider. He described the company as an organization focused on serving people through personal relationships, dependable care and a commitment to clients’ dignity.
Attendees watched a video highlighting the personal connections DTS drivers build with riders and the role the company plays in non-emergency medical transportation throughout the region. He showcased several drivers and clients and reflected on how consistent, assisted transportation has affected their ability to access healthcare and daily services.
DTS, also known as Dave’s Transportation Service Inc., provides non-emergency medical transportation rather than emergency ambulance care.
The company serves South Central Kentucky, with deep roots in Barren, Allen and Monroe counties, and transports clients to doctor visits, hospital appointments, outpatient procedures, dialysis, cancer treatment, rehabilitation and other healthcare-related services.
The business offers multiple levels of mobility support, including ambulatory rides, wheelchair-accessible vehicles and a specialized DTS transfer chair designed for medically fragile patients who may not be stable enough for standard transport.
Company messaging highlights safe, professional and affordable service for seniors, people with disabilities, special-needs clients and others who cannot safely drive themselves or lack reliable transportation.
Over 25 years, DTS says it has grown from two vehicles to a fleet of 37, reflecting a significant regional operation for a rural market and long-term relationships with healthcare facilities and families.
Throughout the anniversary event, the Wells family expressed gratitude to God and to the community for supporting DTS and its mission to help residents maintain access to healthcare and daily living services with reliability and care.
