If you’ve noticed a new byline appearing on GlasgowNews1 over the past several weeks, you’ve already met Auggie.
John Brown, better known throughout Glasgow as “Auggie”, has been covering stories across Glasgow and Barren County as the newest member of the GlasgowNews1 reporting team.
A Glasgow native, Auggie graduated from Glasgow High School in 2017, where he played soccer before spending five years living in Cincinnati. After returning home, he joined Commonwealth Broadcasting as a sports photographer in 2023, quickly becoming a familiar face on the sidelines at local high school sporting events.
Many listeners also know Auggie from WCLU, where he is the Saturday morning on-air host, delivering local news and weather, and keeping the community informed about weekend events happening throughout the area.
Today, Auggie’s role extends well beyond sports. As a reporter for GlasgowNews1, he’s covering breaking news, local government, business, education, public safety, community events, and the stories that matter most to the people of Glasgow and Barren County.
“If something is happening in our community, we want to be there, and Auggie has embraced that mission,” said Chris Houchens, General Manager of Commonwealth Broadcasting. “He’s naturally curious, works hard to build relationships, and understands that good local journalism starts by showing up, asking questions, and earning people’s trust. In just a short time, he’s become an important part of our news team.”
