Cave City is putting $10,000 in opioid abatement funds toward the continued operation of Community Partners for Recovery, a Glasgow-based nonprofit recovery community center serving individuals and families affected by substance use.
CPR director Libby Short said the funds will be used for CPR’s operational expenses, helping the organization maintain the services and programs it provides to people throughout the region.
“Community Partners for Recovery is a nonprofit recovery community center dedicated to supporting individuals and families throughout the recovery journey,” Short said.
CPR provides a space for people who are new to recovery, those in long-term recovery, family members and loved ones, as well as teenagers, according to Short.
The center offers several recovery pathways, including Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, SMART Recovery, Anchored faith-based meetings and Real Talk, a program for teens ages 13 to 17. CPR also offers art programs, one-on-one recovery coaching and harm-reduction services.
Beyond those programs, Short said CPR serves as a hub for connecting individuals with resources that can help them establish stability while in recovery. Those resources can include transportation, housing, employment, education and other community services.
The use of opioid abatement funds for recovery services follows the larger purpose of Kentucky’s opioid settlement program. The state’s opioid abatement framework allows funds to support treatment and recovery services, including services provided by nonprofit organizations, as well as infrastructure and staffing intended to help communities address opioid use disorder and recovery.
Kentucky has received nearly $900 million through opioid settlements, with half of the money administered through the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission and the other half distributed directly to cities and counties for local efforts. The state says the commission has awarded more than $55 million in grants to organizations across Kentucky.
Cave City has previously directed opioid settlement money toward community-based recovery and support efforts. The city approved $5,500 for CPR in an earlier allocation, while the organization also received a $185,371 KYOAAC grant in 2025 to help launch its recovery community center.
CPR opened its Recovery Community Center in Glasgow in May 2025. The organization has since continued expanding the services available to people in Barren County and surrounding communities.
Short said the latest contribution will help CPR continue providing a place where people seeking recovery can find support without judgment.
“This donation to Community Partners for Recovery is more than a financial contribution—it is an investment in hope, recovery, and stronger families and communities,” Short said.
She said the funding will help CPR continue offering recovery meetings, coaching, harm-reduction services, teen programs, art activities and connections to resources such as transportation, housing and employment.
“Most importantly, this gift helps CPR reach more people, expand opportunities, remove barriers to recovery, and continue giving life back to the community,” Short said.
