Drake made an unexpected appearance at Ella Langley’s sold-out concert at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on Aug. 22. Footage from the show showed the rapper singing and dancing along as Langley performed her hit Choosin’ Texas. The moment drew attention because it followed several public signs of mutual support between the two artists.
Billboard highlighted Drake’s recent interest in Langley’s music, including his earlier social media praise of her songwriting and his decision to play Choosin’ Texas during a club DJ set. Langley has also shown appreciation for Drake’s catalog, sharing a clip of herself lip-syncing to HYFR, his 2011 collaboration with Lil Wayne.
The crossover has fueled fan discussion about a possible collaboration, but neither artist has announced a joint song.
Choosin’ Texas has also become a major chart success, spending 18 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100. Drake briefly interrupted its run with Janice STFU before Langley’s single returned to the top.
