Chloe Witcher closed her high school golf career Saturday at the Girls’ State Golf Tournament Finals.
The Barren County senior posted a two-round total of 157, which was good for a tie for 15th in the tournament. She shot an 80 on Saturday as wind and rain from the remnants of Hurricane Isaias blew over Bowling Green Country Club. Witcher shot a 77 on Day 1.
She qualified for the state golf finals all four years of her high school career. She finished tied for 48th as a freshman with a two-round total of 172. She shot 160 as a sophomore and finished tied for 17th, and shot 158 as a junior, but tied for 25th in a tough field.
Sacred Heart’s Keira Yun won the state tournament with a 5-under 139. She won the title for a second-consecutive season.
Witcher will continue her golf career in college at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
She had the lowest round of all area golfers. Kenzie Willen of Cumberland County finished tied for 18th with a two-round 158. Willen won the Region 3 tournament, and edged Witcher by a stroke to win the first-round state tournament in Bardstown.
Lexington Christian Academy won the team title with a 29-over total, which was 11 strokes better than Sacred Heart. Bowling Green, which won the Region 3 tournament, finished fourth.
