The Barren County Judicial Center Project Development Board unanimously approved a $1,620,143.38 disbursement request for the judicial center project during its recent regular Zoom meeting.
Barren District Judge Gabe Pendleton moved to approve disbursement request No. 36. Citizen representative Joan Norris seconded the motion.
Architect representative Adam Gillett said that three potential change orders remained in preparation for presentation to the board, according to the minutes.
The board also received a construction update from Alliance, the construction manager, showing completed elevator shafts, with shafts numbered 2, 3 and 4 reaching the top of the structure. Stairwell towers numbered 1, 5 and 6 remained under construction.
Project visuals showed the vehicular entrance and sally port taking shape, along with an elevated slab on the second floor. The update identified areas being prepared for additional slab pours, and the board received a floor-by-floor construction schedule.
Integrity Architects and Silling Architects were preparing a request for proposals to solicit bids from multiple firms for a commissioning agent. The agent will test and verify building systems and evaluate the building envelope for proper functionality and performance, according to the minutes.
Selection of the commissioning agent will require an additional item to come before the board for approval.
