Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has announced that U.S. flags flying on all state buildings will be at half-staff in honor of Memorial Day.
The half-staff order applies from sunrise until noon on Monday, May 26.
“On Memorial Day, we gather together to be present and to lift our voices to remember those soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who sacrificed their lives for ours,” Beshear said. “While we can never repay the debt we owe, it is our duty to lift up the names of those who gave their all for us, not just on Memorial Day but in our daily lives, by showing gratitude and thanks for our freedoms.”
While the order only applies to state buildings, Beshear encourages individuals and businesses to join in the tribute.
