Much like last two weeks, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet lists three state roads in Barren County that are in the traffic impact report for June 8 to June 13.
For Barren County, the cabinet states that Ky. 1318 — Tobacco Road, near the Lucas community — will have crews resurfacing roughly three miles of the road and to expect lane closures. The same goes for Ky. 2131, which is Coral Hill-Halfway Road, between mile markers 2.2 and 4.
The first 10 miles of U.S. 68 — New Bowling Green Road — is also on the cabinet’s traffic impact report due to crews “continu[ing] drainage work throughout the corridor.”
All work is subject to change, the cabinet stated. The District 3 area serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd, and Warren counties.
Other planned road work includes:
Interstate 165
- A project to completely restore and preserve the I-165 bridges over the Green River (mile point 32.6) in Butler County has started. Motorists should expect long-term lane closures and a traffic pattern changes. The project is expected to last until fall of 2026.
- Highway Safety Improvement Project (HSIP) at Interstate 165 Exit 7 U.S. 231 Morgantown Road in Bowling Green has started. The project will retrofit the current interchange to convert it to a Double Crossover Diamond (DCD) Interchange. While the road will remain open throughout the project, motorists will notice different traffic patterns during construction. The speed limit on U.S. 231 has been lowered to 35 mph through the work zone. The 45-mph area has been extended north of the work zone to Veterans Memorial Highway. One lane in each direction on U.S. 231 is closed. Motorists should use caution while traveling through this section of roadway. The project is expected to be completed later this fall.

Warren County
- U.S. 31-W (mile points 20.9 to 22.5) – The next phase of U.S. 31-W widening in northern Warren County has started. Crews have started moving dirt to widen U.S. 31-W from U.S. 68 to Mizpah Road. Most of the work is being done away from the current roadway so little traffic impacts are expected.
- KY 185 – Two improvement projects on KY 185 have started. The bulk of the work is being done away from the current roadway with little traffic impact. The realignment section of KY 185 will create a new road to the east of the current KY 185, starting near Runner Road and tying back into the current KY 185 just south of KY 1320 (Penns Chapel Road). The HSIP section of the project is from KY 1320 to near Jack Simmons Road, 1.26 miles in length. Drainage improvements and ditching will be a part of this project.
