Three students from Barren County are among those selected as educational scholarships.
Since the cooperative’s founding in 1938, Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation “has strived to give back to the communities it serves” by awarding eight $1,000 scholarships “to assist in financing higher education for students whose families, or themselves, are cooperative members.”
“These scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, campus housing, textbooks and other educational supplies related to the recipient’s academic pursuits,” a Farmers RECC press release stated. “By investing in the future of local students, Farmers RECC aims to not only support individual members, but also strengthen the communities it serves.”
The three Barren County recipients are: Addison McCoy, Emma-Kate Smith and Tinsley Neagle.
Other recipients are:
- Benjamin Shirely, son of Matt and Autumn Shirely of Edmonton.
- Brenan Griffin, son of Chad and Melissa Griffin of Munfordville.
- Brody Hurt, son of Josh and Deena Hurt of Edmonton.
- Dylan Wright, son of Chris and Michelle Wright of Munfordville.
- Logan Boone, son of Anthony and Christina Boone of Magnolia.
Farmers RECC serves 11 Kentucky counties, including Barren, Adair, Edmonson, Grayson, Green, Hardin, Hart, Larue, Metcalfe, Monroe, and Warren counties.
