People opting to enroll at Western Kentucky University’s Glasgow campus will now have 13 degrees to pursue.
On July 25 Barren Inc, the Barren County Chamber of Commerce, had its quarterly Coffee and Commerce networking event, which was sponsored by WKU Glasgow, the of the larger regional campus, according to university President Timothy Caboni.
After speaking about the success of the Early College Program, the high first-year retention rates and the prevalence of university scholars — especially Gilman Scholars — Caboni announced two new degrees that WKU Glasgow students could earn in addition to the 11 previously available. The new degrees are Masters of Arts in Education: Student Affairs in Higher Education and bachelor degrees in workforce administration, which is designed for people to complete while working, Caboni said.
“Our students — many of whom are parents or work here in Glasgow — never have to leave Barren County to complete a four-year WKU degree,” Caboni said. “[T]hese majors meet some of the most significant workforce demands in the area. They continue to drive growth and today I’m delighted to announce this fall we’re going to add two more programs, bringing the total to 13 degrees offered here in Barren County.”
The other degrees include bachelor’s degrees in Business Management, Criminology, Elementary Education, Elementary Education: Elementary Ed/Special Ed, Health Sciences, Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, Middle Grades Education, Psychology, Social Work and Sociology.
Caboni also mentioned that the RN to BSN will be in place for the fall 2025 school year.
“WKU’s RN to BSN program has relaunched,” Caboni said. “So now registered nurses can complete their bachelor’s of science while working full-time.”
