A preliminary hearing is scheduled in the Cave City case where a man allegedly damaged several cars at a business.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, Roy Spiker, 76, was arrested by Cave City police after he “snapped” and used a skid steer to flip over multiple cars at Treasure Trove Park. Appearing via Zoom, and apologizing for his lack of understanding as this “was his first time in trouble,” District Judge Gabe Pendleton set his case for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 4 at 1 p.m.
Spiker’s bond is $200,000 cash. During the brief court appearance, he told Pendleton he had property in Cave City and asked if it could be used as bond payment. Pendleton said it could. A person can use property as collateral to secure a bail amount in Kentucky — a lien will be placed on the property to secure the bail and the lien on the property will be released when the case is disposed, according to the administrative office of the courts.
Spiker is charged with eight counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and three counts of criminal mischief.
