Asa Howard pleaded not guilty during his Barren County District Court arraignment on Monday, Nov. 3.
Eighteen-year-old Howard was arrested on Nov. 1 by a Metcalfe County deputy after the Glasgow Police Department got an arrest warrant the day before. Howard is charged with three counts of murder, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and one count of first-degree assault, a Glasgow police press release from the time stated.
The arrest and charges are connected with a fatal two-vehicle collision that happened at the intersection of North Jackson Highway and the Veterans Outer Loop on Oct. 17. The collision killed three teenagers and injured five others, including Howard.
A preliminary investigation at the time stated Howard was the driver of a 2016 Nissan Altima that hit a Toyota Highlander driven by Timothy Houchens.
Howard’s attorney, Ken Garrett, on Monday requested a preliminary hearing and Barren County District Judge Gabe Pendleton set it for Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
Howard is lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond, according to Glasgow Police Department Public Information Officer Terry Flatt.
