The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Barren County, warning that temperatures may fall well below freezing late Friday night into Saturday morning.
The freeze warning begins at 11 p.m. on Friday, March 27, and continues until 9 a.m. on March 28, according to the National Weather Service, which stated that temperatures as low as 24 degrees are possible during that time. A Freeze Warning is issued when temperatures are forecasted to go below 32 degrees for a long period of time.
“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” according to the weather service. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”
Gardeners, farmers and homeowners could all see impacts if they do not prepare ahead of the cold snap.
