The new, stand-alone farmer’s market building is expected to be utilized after Sustainable Glasgow’s annual 5K on Saturday, April 25.
Griffin Botts, executive director of Sustainable Glasgow, told Glasgow News 1 that he is waiting to get the go-ahead from the inspector’s office, which he anticipated receiving today, April 24, He expected to be in the new location off West Main Street by Saturday for a “soft launch.” Director of Glasgow’s Department of Public Works Jim McGowan confirmed that the temporary certificate of occupancy will be received today.
In December 2024, Staco Building Co. was chosen to construct the 3,600 square-foot building for $779,000, according to prior reporting.
The new building will serve as the beginning and ending point for Sustainable Glasgow’s fifth annual Homegrown 5K, which will take place on Saturday at 7:30 a.m., with on-site registration beginning at 6 a.m., according to the Sustainable Glasgow website.
The Homegrown 5K will follow Leslie Avenue, go down South Green Street, turn onto Norris Court, and follow the same path back, according to Sustainable Glasgow’s social media page.

“Please use caution and use another route if possible,” Sustainable Glasgow stated.
Glasgow Police Department Public Information Officer Terry Flatt said no roads will be closed during the race, but officers will be leading the runners, joggers, and walkers and “blocking [streets] as needed.”
