The Barren County Trojans improved to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in district action with a 29-14 win at Grayson County on Friday night.
After a rugged first half, the Trojans took control of the game in the fourth quarter.
With 9:51 to go in the game, Briggs Harris connected with Jordan Harris on a touchdown pass. Jacob Dooley added the extra point, and Barren led 22-14.
An interception by Weston Shelton ended another Grayson County drive, then the Trojans capped the win with 2:17 to go in the game with a double-reverse flea-flicker pass from Briggs Harris to Jaxon Pierce. Dooley’s kick set the final score.
Barren took the lead for good in the game in the third quarter. Briggs Harris connected with Jackson Stephano on a 62-yard touchdown pass. Pierce ran in the two-point conversion to put the Trojans ahead 15-14.
The Trojans scored first in the game when Briggs Harris ran the ball into the end zone from 10 yards out. Dooley’s kick gave Barren a 7-0 lead with 7:11 left in the first quarter.
Grayson County scored the next two touchdowns in the game and led 14-7 at halftime.
Briggs Harris completed 7 of 10 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns.
Stephano caught two passes for 68 yards, while Jordan Harris caught two passes for 27 yards.
Corbin Wells led the Trojans on the ground with 61 rush yards. Briggs Harris rushed for 56 yards, while Jordan Harris rushed for 35 yards, and Pierce posted 25 yards rushing.
Barren plays at Greenwood on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m.
