STAFF REPORT
Glasgow News 1
Park City will collect donated items for a time capsule Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Senior Community Center, according to a social media post from Park City Tourism. The capsule is intended to remain closed until 2076, when it will mark America’s 300th anniversary.
The post invites people to bring their donated items to the center during the three-hour collection period. The Oct. 6 event is an item drop-off; the announcement lists sealing the capsule as a separate step planned before the end of 2026.
Donations have three stated restrictions: Nothing liquid, flammable or perishable can be accepted.
The planned opening would come 50 years after the collection year. The post connects that opening specifically to the national anniversary celebration, describing it as “America 300.”
An exact sealing date has not been announced. The notice says a confirmed date will be shared, but it does not provide a schedule for that update.
Items will be collected at the Senior Community Center in Park City.
